Materials produced for ISJFC

Chart of production process of forged steel products

 These materials are produced in line with research themes. Serving as records of production techniques made by artisans, the materials include forged iron samples, a collection of work clothes produced in a one-fifth scale of the original size, and wasen (Japanese boat) models by shipbuilder Kondo Tomoichiro.

  • Work clothes produced in one-fifth scale of original size (produced for ISJFC)
  • 1/10 scale model of a <i>wasen</i> (traditional Japanese ship); this is a cargo ship known as a higaki kaisen (made by Tomoichiro Kondo).

 These are mingu that were actually used and include materials related to clothing, agriculture, fishing, daily life, livelihood, and religious beliefs. The collection includes approximately 2,000 items of mingu from merchant families in Tsukui-gun, Kanagawa Prefecture, as well as the Yuto Haneda Collection (2,473 small ema votive plaques), the Tameichiro Yonezu Collection (approximately 2,000 pieces of handicraft made using small cuts of cloth), and the Tsutomu Watanabe Collection (1,283 pieces including Tohoku and Ainu clothing).
